Abstracts

We are calling for abstracts for the 4th Indigenous Nursing Research for Health Equity Summit 2024, in Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand.

The Summit aims to share research findings and approaches that address the health and wellbeing of Indigenous, First Nations, and Aboriginal populations. The Summit enables Indigenous nurses, healthcare workers, community knowledge holders, and researchers to connect, network, share, and reflect on research ideas and issues affecting Indigenous wellbeing and equity. It also provides opportunities to learn from each other and to network with researchers actively working to improve the health and lives of Indigenous peoples.

 

Faculty, community members, and postgraduate and undergraduate students are encouraged to submit abstracts for review.

 

Presentations are invited that report transformative praxis or research that addresses:

 

Any research related to the health and wellbeing and healthcare spectrum conducted with Indigenous, First Nations, Aboriginal or Native populations (such as Māori, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, First Nations, Inuit, Métis, or Pacific Nations or Native American peoples).

OR

 

Indigenous research methodologies that aim to get our Indigenous stories and realities right or applying Indigenous research and transformative praxis.

OR

Research conducted with other (non-Indigenous, non-Native) underserved groups or on an under-researched phenomenon – note, these abstracts must address how the approach or outcomes could apply to Indigenous, First Nations, Aboriginal or Native peoples. 

Abstract Submission Requirements

  • Format: One page, single-spaced, Arial or Calibri 11-pt font, 2.5 cm margins

  • Length: 200-word max for content

 

ABSTRACT CONTENT

  • Title:   Written in Title Case (first letter capitalised), no longer than 15 words

  • Author(s) – (format: Last name, First Initial., second author last name, first initial., etc.) – identify the designated presenter. At least one author must be the designated presenter.

Indicate if you are a:

  • Student        

  • Practising Nurse          

  • Nurse

  • Researcher/Academic

  • Community/Health researcher or practitioner.

 

PRESENTATION FORMATS

  • Oral presentation – 15 minutes

 

 

  • 200-word maximum for abstract content, organised by the following subheadings:

    • Purpose (statement with a brief background of the problem)

    • Methods or Approach (study design, main measures)

    • Results

    • Conclusions

SUBMISSION

Submissions are accepted by email only and must be received by 5.00 pm NZST on 14 July 2024. Application materials should be emailed to: inrhe2024@aut.ac.nz

Presenters’ Registration. All presenters (other than those specifically sponsored or advised by the Conference Committee as exempt from registration fees) must register for the conference. Presenters also need to meet their own travel and accommodation costs.

 

ABSTRACT REVIEW

The Scientific Committee will review abstracts. Notification of acceptance will be via email by 1 August 2024.

AUDIOVISUAL EQUIPMENT

The conference will be held at Auckland University of Technology. The venue will have a data projector, laptop, screen and sound system.

The Conference Management Team will email you 2-3 weeks before the conference to request your Presentation. However, please feel free to email it at any time. Presenters should bring their presentation on a USB stick to the Summit.

If you have not emailed it earlier, a technician will be onsite to load it.
